An effort by right wing alumni of Dartmouth College to take over the Dartmouth Association of Alumni was soundly rejected today. Results of a recent election for members to the Executive Committee of the Association of Alumni Counsel were announced showing that those candidates "Unity Slate" committed to ending a divisive and ill-conceived lawsuit against the College were overwhelmingly elected. This serves as a strong rebuke and hopefully sends a message to the so-called "pro-Parity" slate. While this might not seem very significant to those not connected to Dartmouth College the individuals who were pushing this effort had refused to disclose the source of their funding--believed to be from outside interests-- and a number of its members were well known for their extreme right wing views and agenda. Their end game while couched in the language of expanding the alumni input on the Board of Trustees was to takeover the governing boards, administration, faculty and ultimately determine the student body.
