A Rasmussen poll taken on June 10 and released this morning shows Obama expanding his lead in Iowa to 7 points, 45% to 38%; a month ago, Obama led by just 2 points, 44% to 42%. Obama's support has held steady over the last few Rasmussen Iowa polls, whereas McCain has now sunk below 40% for the first time.

Obama now leads by 19 points among women, up from 8 points a month ago, and leads almong unaffiliated voters by 44% to 29%; McCain has lost 9 points among these voters since the last poll.
Obama has the support of 77% of Democrats, McCain has the support of 82% of Republicans.
The loss of support for McCain coincides with his disastrous recent weeks on the campaign trail, including his lime green speech and numerous other gaffes. The poll was taken before his comment yesterday morning that "it's not too important" when U.S. troops are able to return home from Iraq, which created a firestorm of media coverage, as numerous Democratic surrogates stayed on message in denouncing McCain's comment.
Other polls reported earlier today and late yesterday from Wisconsin, Massachusetts, and Washington similarly confirm a consistent movement away from McCain in recent weeks.
