I'm quite sure many of you remember Larry Sinclair. He's the upstanding citizen who has claimed that in 1999, he was in the back of a Limo with Barack Obama performing oral sex on him while Obama smoked crack. (If you want to find out, go google it, but I ain't linking to it.) This crackpot has also accused Obama of murdering his pastor to prevent him from disclosing their gay relationship.
Well, it turns out that these accusations have been debunked, of course--but that doesn't change the fact that somehow, he is being hosted by the National Press Club next Wednesday.
What we're asking is very simple: Tell the NPC not to host Larry Sinclair and provide his claims the air of legitimacy.
It's like Matt Stoller writes at OpenLeft today: the serious talking heads in our national press have a reputation for reporting on anything without any examination of the facts, especially when it comes to Barack Obama.
Now, while it seems true that anyone can rent out the services of the rooms at the National Press Club, we would hope the NPC would be a little more discriminatory regarding the purposes for which their rooms were being used. So, the people at FireDogLake have set up a petition for you to sign designed to put pressure on the National Press Club to investigate the conspiracy-mongering that Larry Sinclair will do in front of their podium and refuse to grant him the veneer of its legitimacy.

And, as a fun guessing game, let's all ask ourselves what smear we're going to have to defend Barack Obama from next! His patriotism, his religion, the fact that he does not, in fact, smoke crack in the backs of limos while receiving oral sex from criminals...
Take some action. Add your voice to the mix.
Thanks!
