So .... Since there seems to be so much passion about Obama and his stance on FISA around here, I thought I’d come up with this modest proposal. Follow me below the fold.
It is my understanding that DKos is a political website dedicated to electing Democrats to office. I have also noted that we have many many folks here who are very prolific (and sometimes even skilled) writers. Some of them like to use lots of words, and some are content with fewer words – sometimes even acronyms (e.g., STFU or, more politely, SYFPO). So – given the following:
- This is a site to promote and elect Democrats, AND
- Obama is our (that would be us Democrats) presumptive nominee for President of the United States of America, AND
- We all seem to support the idea of free speech and self-expression, AND
- The current incarnation of FISA is a) REALLY, REALLY bad, or b) Bad, but not irretrievably bad, or c) Bad, but not so bad, or d) not so good but about the best we can expect, or e) not much to get too excited about.
And IF we agree that:
- However bad Obama might be for supporting the current incarnation of FISA he is, if not infinitely, than at a minimum a whole lot better than McSame, AND
- That a vote for anybody other than Obama is at LEAST the equivalent of half a vote for McSame.
Then I suggest we agree to the following;
- Each of us estimate the value of our individual opinions, as expressed in the words we write, AND
- Put our money where our keyboards are by putting a value on each word we write about FISA (e.g., a buck, a dime, a penny, whatever), AND
- CONTRIBUTE that amount to the Obama campaign.
I’m in for $0.25/word. How about you?
