As Election Day approaches, we're going to be working hard to elect Barack Obama. We also have an incredible opportunity to elect Daniel Biss, an exciting and young Progressive running for Change here at home, in Illinois, to the office of State Representative.
Recently, I had the honor of sitting down with Daniel and discussing our ideas for progressive change in Illinois and across the country. I hope you’ll take a moment to view it view it . I believe you’ll come to the same conclusion I have – Daniel, and the kind of campaign he has built and the kind of leader he will be, represent the future of the Progressive movement. Please join me in supporting him.
.
Daniel is running in the 17th District, which includes parts of Evanston, Skokie, Winnetka, and Glenview. As a math professor at the University of Chicago, I know he will bring sorely needed problem solving skills to Springfield. More importantly, Daniel brings a fresh perspective and an understanding of what it takes to engage people in the political and legislative process.
I first met Daniel in 2004. As a volunteer organizer, he was spending countless hours facilitating volunteer travel to Wisconsin, an unprecedented effort to win that key battleground state for John Kerry. Using the Internet and e-mail distribution lists, Daniel was able to reach out to people who had otherwise felt alienated from the process, and showed them that it was possible for one person to become an agent of change. His campaign is empowering others to take the same leap.
When Daniel approached me to discuss his idea to run for State Representative, I was eager to support him. Daniel has been running a grassroots campaign that is second to none, with a heavy emphasis on field organizing and small dollar on-line contributions. He's been so successful he was featured on the cover of the Wall Street Journal last year.
I am asking you to join me in supporting Daniel by making a financial contribution of $10, $25 or $50. He needs your support and we need young progressive leaders like him in Springfield. Please watch this video and make an on-line donation to his campaign today.
