Having arrived at the Minneapolis airport in plenty of time for my return flight home to Los Angeles, I stopped in one of the many bookstores on my way to the gate. I picked up the latest issue of Rolling Stone, with Obama on the cover. I figured it would make for some good reading on the way home and save battery life in my iPhone, loaded as it was for the trip.
After boarding and getting situated in my seat, carry-on stashed above me (I NEVER check luggage), I pulled out my magazine. I read several of the earlier pieces... being the old professional musician that I am, the notion of Stone Temple Pilots' Scott Weiland yelling at the crowd they were playing for at some casino (name escapes me now) when their response was not as ardent as he hoped (this ain't no fuckin steak house!)...made me laugh out loud.
But it was what happened AFTER I read the Obama interview that really made my day. The man sitting next to me, having started in early on a vodka, asked me about the interview. I shared my thoughts, we discussed Obama a bit. Seems he was an ardent Hillary supporter, and mentioned he was concerned about the support people around BHO. Felt he didn't really know them. Well... as if on cue, Rolling Stone followed up the interview with an article on BHO's inside team. Wonderful read. As I was done with my read, having gone through all the magazine worth reading, I handed him my copy as I got off the plane. Told him to do the same when he was done reading. Hope he found it useful.
