I haven't written a diary in a long time, partly becuse of personal time constraints, partly because since 2006 I've felt the tide has turned our way and my energy is not quite as needed as times prior (not saying it's not needed mind you, just not as much, and my money is still being donated).
But two undecided voters have recently pointed out to me that they have tried to look up where Barack Obama stands on specific issues and have gone to his web site (like I'm sure we would wish all undecided voters would do), but have come away not so much illuminated by Barack's policy thoughts and plans, but instead frustrated because it took so much effort to find a satisfactory answer. Want to know why? Well the subject of the diary gives it away...
There is no search engine on Barack Obama's web site! I mean, come on, this is 2008. Blogs that receive 200 hits a day have search engine capabilities. John Kerry's web site had a search engine 4 years ago.
I have a friend who wanted to find what Obama's stance on drilling in ANWR was. She had to wade through a page of issue briefs and two PDFs before finally finding that Barack has fought drilling in ANWR. Luckily, she found it, but many undecided voters would lack the patience to go that far. They're undecided voters! They're busy, they're lazy, whatever, we need them to win. How can Barack's web site not have a search engine? This is America. America goes for the quick route on everything, especially undecided (aka, too busy to care) voters. This is going to cost votes if it is not fixed, I guarantee it. And it's such an easy fix nowadays, I'm flabberagsted by it.
By the way, John McCain's website? Search engine, lower right hand corner of the front page. And here I thought it was John McCain who never used a computer. Could've fooled me.
