Ah, yes... the 4th of July. Such a hallowed date in our history!
Independence Day!
Or, as I'm beginning to call it, Lip Service Day! When all of our public failures servants (and public servant wannabes) praise our founding fathers and the principles on which this nation was founded.
Fuh!
Well...
I was reading a friend's blog today in which she mentions not only a little history about the Declaration of Independence (it's actually a post-dated document, come to find), but pulls a bit of text from the document that seems oh, so familiar for some reason:
He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people. He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & Perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.
When speaking of our founding fathers, from now on, I think "prescient" should also be mixed in with the rest of the glowing descriptors.
As for Obama's condescending message yesterday concerning FISA, I suggest that people show up at his rallies between now and the Senate's vote on the bill with signs that read FISA WEENIE — large enough and plentiful enough and positioned strategically for the television cameras to see.
