A "new" polling demographic turns up an area where McCain is leading. AP-Yahoo! News conducted a survey which was taken in June, and finds both dog and cat "owners" favoring McCain.
Personally, I had no idea about whether either had pets, say nothing about which ones. Apparently, John McCain has a number of pets, from dogs to fish. Evidently, the Obama's don't have any pets at this time.
Of course, neither McCain has probably seen any of their pets for months, having spent so much time on the campaign trail. There was no indication in the article that any of the pets travel with them, or in which residence(s) the pets live.
More . . .
I will not be quoting any statistics from the article, so I provided a link for any who might be curious, however, I will state that it was not a "landslide" for McCain.

Evidently, the primary reason the pet owners have for favoring McCain is the idea that pet owners are more caring. I feel that sometimes not having a pet can also be a sign of caring, because of a situation that is bad for the animal. If there is rarely some available to play with the animal would be a primary example. Food and water is just not enough for most creatures, especially if there is only one; they get lonely and bored.
My household has had various dogs and cats over the years, and I like to think I am a responsible pet person. But, there have been times when the conditions have been less than ideal, because of long hours with no people at home. The McCain's are able to hire people to provide for any needs of a pet, or perhaps the children care for them, but that hardly "proves" that John McCain is a caring person.
It is probably obvious by now that I do not agree with the reasons for favoring John McCain (or anyone else) for the reasons stated in the article and would never base my vote, especially for president, on such a basis.
He may well be caring when it comes to pets, does that translate to caring for people, especially the citizens of this country?
I don't think we need to be concerned about this particular demographic; I sure hope voters will consider many things beyond this small personal specific when making a decision about who the next POTUS will be.
P.S. I prefer not to use the term owner, even when I have paid for a pet.
