Among the rush of hand-wringing diaries (most commented-upon -- and possibly first -- example from reef the dog) on the New Yorker cover, I have seen none that has a poll. It is hard to judge from the comments what the level of outrage is as opposed to those who accept this as satire. So please vote.
Throwing in my own two cents, I enjoy it as satire, and there are some subtle touches in the picture that render it obviously intended as humour. This is the New Yorker, after all. Those who know it should not be surprised by such a cover. That said, geez, it does seem a bit too much like attention-seeking.
