The real deal about the MSM being pro-Obama is the old strategy of shooting the messenger when all else fails. And failing is the best description of the McCain and GOP. So, shoot the messenger. Evidence is mounting. Take a look at CBS News, headlined "House Republicans Fire Off Letter to New York Times":

More below the fold
First, thanks to all who suggested this should be expanded. I appreciate your thoughts, and the topic is way complicated enough to merit more that I initially offered.
Here is an irony that might bring a smile: A power outage has struck the MSM grid the GOP and fellow travelers have depended upon since Reagan days. GOPers, in the House and elsewhere, still think the MSM is the be-all and end-all of what we used to call mass communication. Thus they trot out the (obsolescent) strategy of complaining to the NYT, thinking the newspaper of record continues to be the principal fount of journalistic wisdom. No, not any longer. No such exists, having been replaced by an incredibly diligent mass of readers/watchers/bloggers who insist upon transparency and who let the whole world know at the speed of broad band. The old smoke and mirrors and idle threats can not hold up in the face of literally these thousands. Notice the speed with which CBS News was called out after trying to clean up McCain's screwed up answer to a question about the surge. (Just imagine how many answers to different questions have been broadcast!) And it was not just the bloggers but also Olbermann who would not allow the old way of doing business between press and candidate to proceed.
I hope the GOP continues to make the MSM a target, but one day they, too, will wake up and realize that "shoot the messenger" has faded from metaphor to cliche. Yet, no need to worry too much about this happening soon because people who think/want to control everything are quite unable to recognize that the game has changed.
