Many of you probably know about the event already. Atleast the people who check Halperin's thepage frequently. For those who can't stomac Mediorce Mark's ramblings and everybody else too:
Sen. Obama will speak LIVE today at around 12:00pm at UNITY: Journalists of Color's quadrennial convention in Chicago.
A Question & Answer session might be included
A LIVE FEED is up over at CNN.com
Q&A JUST STARTED!!
This is the first event Sen. Obama participates in since he came back from Europe yesterday.
The UNITY press release states:
We are pleased that our UNITY colleagues will have the chance to hear from Sen. Obama and be among the first to question him upon his return from his overseas trip," said Karen Lincoln Michel, UNITY president. "We hope that in this historic campaign, Sen. McCain, whose presence is equally important, will also address our audience – the kind of audience that reflects the growing diversity in America."
Why the emphasis? Well i think if a Q&A is included this could be a campaign gift from heaven. It gives him a chance to maybe fight back on some of the questions still lingering out there from the disgusting ad by McCain yesterday.
UPDATE Greeted to big applause, starts right away with questions about his trip, specificially Afghanistan and Iraq.
The questions will be asked by CNN’s Suzanne Malveaux, TIME’s Romesh Ratnesar
UPDATE 2x First part just ended and Obama is doing great. As you guys have noted in the comments "No one has asked John McCain if his vote for the war was a mistake the whole week" struck me as the most powerfull. Please post some more good quotes so I can update :)
NEXT UP: QUESTIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE
(Also, the stream gets cut for the break? Someone is worried about hot mics... In fact the last audio from the CNN feed was "the mics are not hot" LOL)
