I know many Obama supporters have supreme confidence in Obama's campaign strategy , but i see a lot of cracks in it , and it deserves a lot of scrutiny and careful consideration on whether Obama is running the wrong strategy against McCain.
I'm one of a very few Obama supporters who've long held the belief that Obama is indeed running a poor campaign so far , and the polls clearly shows it.
All i've heard on this blog and through certain sectors of the MSM , is how bad of a campaign McCain is running...And how he had to shake up his staff...And how his attacks are all over the place But , those same critics have to ask themselves , "If McCain is running such a poor campaign , why is he only trailing by 2-3 points once you average all the recent polls?"
While i've witness a supreme confidence among many Obama supporters , including the Obama campaign themselves , it's obvious that this race is REALLY TIGHT , according to pollster.com + realclearpolitics.com.
McCain must be doing something right , isn't he?..
How can McCain continue to be O'so close to Obama during a year that is suppose to be so lopsided toward the Dems'?
I sincerily know the answer to that , but before you hear my explanation , i want you to read a wondeful article written by Jonathan Chait on the LATIME website.
If you've heard anything at all about John McCain during the last few weeks, what you've probably heard is that he's losing. His advisors hate each other, the media are ignoring him, and he's getting photographed in golf carts and supermarket cheese aisles while his opponent strikes Kennedyesque poses.
But here's the weird thing: It's kind of working for McCain. He's only trailing by, on average, a few points in the polls. Even after Barack Obama's week of European political masterpiece theater, the Democrat's support barely budged. The reason, I believe, is that Obama is making the enormous mistake of letting the race be entirely about him, which is the only way he can lose.
I agree wholeheartily with this statement above , and the scariest part about it is , it seems the Obama campaign still does not understand they risking throwing the election away to the GOP..
They are basicaly allowing the MSM and the Mccain camp to pretty much make this race about a referundum on Obama...Therefore , Obama has to prove he can be president instead of McCain having to prove he won't be nothing like Bush.
McCain may be committing lots of blunders, but the blunders aren't hurting him because the spotlight is on Obama. McCain is getting attention for his attacks on Obama, especially his frequent insinuations that Obama lacks patriotism. The attacks are usually based on lies (such as McCain's discredited claim that Obama canceled a visit with wounded troops when he discovered the media couldn't tag along -- in fact, he canceled the visit, but the media were never scheduled to come).
Here's the "coup the grace" paragraph that should scare all Obama supporters.
Obama has barely hit back. His weak-tea replies express "disappointment" with McCain and reject the "same old politics."
The problem with the Obama campaign is , they are so fucking arrogant and just totally confident they can't lose the race , they are basicaly not even trying to define McCain.
Here's the likely rationale: The public, by a wide margin, wants a Democrat to win the presidency. So all Obama has to do is make himself acceptable and he'll win. Hence the focus on building up his own credentials rather than tearing down McCain.
Perhaps that sounds familiar. Let me refresh your memory: it was the John Kerry campaign strategy in 2004. Four years ago, the conventional wisdom had it that a majority of the voters would reject President Bush, so winning was just a matter of Kerry proving himself as an alternative. People "are looking for some change," one pollster put it at the time, "but the change has to be acceptable. John Kerry has to prove he is acceptable."
So rather than attack Bush, Kerry focused on defining himself. The Democratic National Convention was a model of civility and positive focus. The Republican National Convention, on the other hand, was a full-throated assault on Kerry. I don't need to remind you how it all turned out.
For months now , i've been trying to convince many people on here the Obama campaign are making a grave mistake , and finally ,Mr Chait has pretty much explained what's so wrong about the Obama campaign...They are basicaly running the exact same campaign that Kerry ran in 2004...Umbelievable , isn't it?
What is prompting such a terrible strategy is Obama himself...Obama is a nice guy who detest hand to hand combats...He's really a finess politician who has to be forced to get a bit aggressive...Remember the Philly debate and how his donors threaten him to be more aggressive on Hillary...They forced him to write in Op.Ed article on the NYT telling the world he's going to get tougher starting with the Philly Debate.
Obama does not even have to be "directly " aggressive..All he has to do is make sure his press shop doesnt let anything go , just like the Phil Gramm fiasco in which the Obama camp allowed McCain to wizzle his way out of with no damage and many other blunders by their team.
What the fucking Obama team doesnt seem to understand is "negative ads works" , but for some reason , Obama think people love him too much to believe in those ads depicting him as a soft foreigner who's out of touch with American value.
Obama is running an "above the fray campaign" , but in reality , this election will be about who can turn the most voters against an opponent.
I've always thought that the right strategy for Obama was to jump on McCain from day 1 and make this election about a the Bush-McCain ticket..
I expected very sharp attack ads to be running heavily in many battleground state and not let McCain breath a second , but it seems it's the Mccain campaign who's adopting this strategic.
Where's the Union??....I understand the Obama camp wants to save their warchest for later , but they really need to try to swiftboat McCain right now!!!
A few weeks ago , i read somewhere that the SEIU + AFL-CIO had about $100Mil in grand total , to use for the 2008 election.....How about dumping $30Million to attack McCain??
I would advise the Union to hire a "ad specialist" because so far , the Obama campaign havent been running good ads at all....We need sophisticated sharp ads that would hit'em hard.
