On July 30th it was reported that Barack Obama, in response to the McCain campaign's hard turn into the gutter of negitive attack ads, stated three times, "So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, 'he's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name,' you know, 'he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."
The next day, McCain spokesman Rick Davis hit back by insinuating that "Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck," with his accusation that he don't look like the other presidents. And now the media is up in arms, squabling over who delt what card and when.
But today, as it turns out, a YouTube ad has came to our attention that, for all intents and purposes, justifies the statements Obama made.
Video after the jump.

This video from the McCain campaign quips "...let's look at what he's changed so far...". Then, after pointing out the stylized "Obama for America" seal that sent the right into a tizzy a few weeks back, they wonder what else he wants to change.
"The statue of liberty?", the narrator opines over a photo-shop of the Senator. "Mount Rushmore?", he continues as the monument morphs into quintuplets of the Democratic nominee. And then the query that seals the deal..."The hundred dollar bill?".
So, to summarize:
6/27 McCain Campaign posts video alleging that Barack Obama wants to put his face on American icons such as Mount Rushmore and the hundred dollar bill, complete with photoshoped examples.
7/30 Barack Obama warns that this will be one of the Republican tactics, as this video posted on You-Tube proves definitivly.
7/31 McCain spokesman Rick Davis accuses Obama of using the race card, using the exact wording of Robert Shapiro's description of the tactics used in the O.J. Simpson trial; "played it from the bottom of the deck".
8/1 The MSM blindly falls for a classic Rovian bait and switch... a race bait and switch that is.
Personally, I don't think that this is a McCain brainchild. This is not his modus-operandi, but this is a classic Rovian sub-text attack. Suggest to the viewer that he wants his "black face" on our greatest national icons without overtly crossing the line. Then crying foul when they get called on it.
The same tactic is evident in the Hilton/Spears add. The sub-text in that one was "Barack the celebrity is going to steal your white women". If they truly wanted to paint Obama as a "liberal celeb" Clooney and Penn would have done a much better job of conveying that narrative. Spears and Hilton, have no place within such a narrative considering the fact of Spear's public support of Bush, and the Hilton family's generous contributions to the McCain Campaign.
So this may not be McCain writing this script, but it's McCain by proxy.
Shame...
