Better to leave the satire to Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Even that Maynard G. Krebs of the right, Dennis Miller, must be cringing at this garbage.
These ads are reminiscent of that failed Fox humor show (I can't remember what it was called, but it was lame) that lasted about 5 minutes a few months ago.
Their meanness shows through too much to be funny.
Not that humor can't be mean, but it can't only be mean. Saying someone is a stupid stupidface may be satisfying to a bully and his friends, but it doesn't make anybody else laugh.
It is rather delightful to see True Believers going down with their ship. They are so bought into the idea that they can swiftboat candidates with scare tactics that they are becoming parodies of themselves. It shows an utter lack of creativity or ability to adapt to new circumstances. Here we are, 3 months til the election and already they're willing to bet their whole campaign on teasing the Democrat for being...what? Popular? These are Rovians who know nothing but Rovianism.
There's gotta be a nugget of truth for parody to work. When it's just a cover for saying "we don't like this guy," it falls flat. The shit they're peddling now is worse than the worst routines Saturday Night Live used to stick at the end of shows during the no-talent years.
It's like a bunch of frat boys making fun of Michael Jordan for being so good at basketball.
Amazing.
John McCain is turning himself into Alan Keyes right before our eyes.
