TPM Election Central is reporting that a middle class couple from Flushing, Queens contributed the maximum donation to the McCain combination. So what? The woman works for Hess and was among several Hess employees (she's an office manager) to donate the maximum to the McCain campaign shortly after he reversed his position on off-shore drilling.
While this is certainly not damning evidence of anything, it certainly warrants a little investigation. Kudos to TPM Election Central.
Update: I'm sure many of us have doubts about the investigation of this (whether not it is dirty) will be picked up by the MSM. I contacted some of the local NYC media outlets. We can only hope that this will be thoroughly investigated by someone. If it is dirty (and a middle-class couple from Queens who rent their home and have never contributed to a federal campaign before certainly seems dirty), this should certainly be bigger news than an ad starring Barack/Britney/Paris. Of course, who knows?
But, I think it is upon us to make sure the MSM covers it. E-mail these links to news outlets and bloggers to get the word out. What else is the Internet for than the democratization of information? We need answers to the questions surrounding these contributions!
