On Friday, in the House, Chet Edwards, D-TX read a statement opposing Republican tactics in adding on non-related items (off-shore drilling) to FY 2009 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill, H.R. 6599.
"We believe that attaching them -- non-germane amendments -- to this critical veteran's bill could jeopardize its passage by unnecessarily delaying or even grinding debate completely to a halt. This is unacceptable."
Republican members booed Edwards' statement -- about 40 seconds into the video linked below.

Chet responded, "My colleagues, those are not my words -- those are the words of the Veterans of Foreign Wars."
The Republicans booed the VFW! (and other veteran's groups.)
I don't know if Chet Edwards is still in consideration for the VP slot, but he sure pwned the Republicans here! In any event, wouldn't this make a great basis for a commercial?!
This happened Friday, and I'm surprised I haven't seen it here -- I searched for it, but my searching skills here leave a lot to be desired :-/
