Well, I decided that since I've seen a variety of causes here that I'd jump into the fray and ask for help with two projects I'm working on! So, here's the good news! I'm not looking for money!
Follow me below the fold!
My first project is to help fund a hearing aid program. As you are probably aware hearing aids are incredibly expensive and typically they are not covered by Medical Insurance. Because of this I've become involved in a group that helps provide hearing aids for a fraction of the cost that they would be if you or I were to go someplace and ask for them (providing we had the means to do so).
The way this program works is simple: We ask for a sponsor - whether it's a local service organization, church group, Senior Center or other likely candidates to help us pay for them. We ask the families to donate a portion of the cost and then this group matches up to $500 for the hearing aids. Now you're wondering what you can do to help? It's easy!!
If you use a printer at home, in your office or anyplace else, I can send you free Fed Ex Labels to mail those useless cartridges in and we collect anywhere between 2 cents and $3 for each one! Here's the good news - wherever you live if you're willing to participate you can simply email me (it's in my profile) and I'll happily mail you the Fed Ex Labels - use your own box, and mail them away!
Now for MA, RI and NH folks: Do you shop at Star Market or Shaws Markets? If you do you can help a worthy charity that I've looked into very thoroughly. You can learn more about them by visiting their website which is Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, Inc. I was told about this program through a friend of mine who donates to them regularly through matching funds at her place of work. 100% of the funds they collect are donated in the form of grants to the researchers in Boston to help stamp out preventable blindness. So you're wondering how you can help?? It's simple! If you shop at Star Market or Shaws Markets and you collect a register receipt when you shop, we'll take them and they will donate 5% of your receipt (less tax, alcohol, milk and tobacco products) to Mass Lions Eye Research. I will even send you the envelope with postage to mail them to me!
Both of these programs will be ongoing through June of 2009 so I may post it again in a couple of months!
I will personally promise you this much:
100% of the funds we collect will be used for charity purposes only. I will pay for any postage costs from my own pocket to support these programs.
Here is a link to the cartridges we can accept. (Thanks to Royal Blue for pointing out I should have posted it!!)
Thanks for reading - whether you can help or not!!
