Obama's enemies in the press are jumping on the Hillary roll call news to rewrite history. They assert that since the nomination his poll numbers have 'flat lined' after he 'limped across the finish line.' Now he is being crushed between Hillary's thunder thighs. I believe this could not be further from the truth.
My understanding of DNC rules (and Howard Dean has attested to this) is that Hillary would have had to refuse to put her name in nomination ... and she did not. The pontificators and histrionic Democrats are saying Obama should not have caved in to her or allowed her to do this. Based on the rules, could he stop her if she did not stop herself?
Word from the Hillary camp is that her supporters wanted this. I was led to believe Hillary was ending her campaign, therefore ceding the nomination to Obama. Isn't it Hillary that was supposed to be calling the shots and rallying her supporters to Obama? Has she been enthusiastic enough in support of him since June 3?
How can Hillary portray herself as passively appeasing her supporters when she was on video encouraging a role call for catharsis and Greek drama. Is she doing this to deny any responsibility for going back on her word?
