This won't be a long diary and I am sorry for that. I, however, wanted to point out this NY Times article about Ted Kennedy's speech last night.
It tells the story of Kennedy's journey to Denver. How he spent time in a Denver hospital. How he was suffering from kidney stones. And how once he got to Denver, even kidney stones weren't going to stop him from giving the speech. In fact, Shrum tried to draft a three sentence speech for Kennedy so he wouldn't be in too much pain, but as the article quotes Kennedy, "I’m not getting up to go over there and give a three-sentence speech." You think Shrum would know Kennedy better by now. The Lion of the Senate isn't going to let anything, let alone cancer or kidney stones, stop him.
