This is what I'd like ot hear every democrat say over the course of the next 72 hours:
the backdrop used by Sen. Obama has no bearing on who should be the next President. Debating about it will not save one American job, give one American health insurance, lower gas prices by one red cent, nor bring one American soldier home safely on second sooner. That the Republican party would rather focus on things like set pieces and crowd sizes rather than the bread and butter issues that face America in this daunting time reveals what four years under John McCain would be like. Like President Bush, a McCain Presidency would be all about image, with little concern for reality. It's no wonder that eight years of this philosophy have brought us the debacle of Iraq and the drowning of New Orleans. Vote McCain for four more years of Bush.
Incidentally, I do hope everyone out there realizes that this flub about the columns has nothing to do with anything, other than getting people not to talk about the reality around us. DO NOT PLAY THAT GAME. Democrats stay on message - attack the Republicans for not recognizing the important issues that face all Americans, and hammer away at the Bush-McCain legacy (and future)
update:
I don't think people are getting what I wrote, so I'll try again. The debate about the columns is the problem, not the column itself. Obama could have chosen anything and teh Republicans would attack it. Not because they think people really care what backdrop Obama uses, but because they want us to talk about something other than the economy. Justifying why Obama picked this particular set accomplishes the Republicans goal, because it is time not spent talking about what the Republicans have done to this country!
