How a simple guy in Austria (for Mr. Mc. Cain, this is NOT the country with the Kangaroos, this is where Schwarzenegger built up muscles and surprisingly made his way in the Republican party) sees what's goin on over there, and what he does not understand...
I am married to a US citicen and so I got more interested in the US politics, but there are some things I still do not understand:
How is it possible that the biggest thing to discuss in a world leading country like the USA is the decoration of a stage on a convention?
I thought my wife was joking when she told me that. Is there really not more to talk about? I saw great speeches with good content when I was watching this convention on TV. Am I the only one who really listened to all this? Can it be that I had the wrong focus?
Is it usual that only one political party in the US delivers content during a campaign? All I have heard so far from Mc. Cain was that:
The economic problems in the US happen just in the peoples minds - fine, just think them away.
Obama does not know the problems of the average people in the US. This is hard to understand for me it this statement comes from someone who dos not know how many houses he owns. But maybe this is the connection to the average because a lot of people also do not know it they still own their house or if it is gone already becaue of a doctors bill. And this leads me to ma next point.
Does healthcare really mean that you just have to have the theroretical possibillity to see a doctor? If you are able to go to an ER then you have healthcare? Well I am sure it is a great system to have if you can choose between visiting a doctor and having a house. But at least you are healthy if you have to sell your house to pay the doctor and its must be great to be homeless but healthy.
Excuse my ironic style but the country I am living is a very small one, but even here we usually vote based on content. I do NOT vote a party because they tell me that they do not like the decoration, the tie or the hair of their opposite. I personally did not understand how Bush made it a second time, but I REALLY do NOT understand how Mc Cain can have a theoretical chance to win this election. For me it seems that you have the choice between a person that is willing to bring the US back to the world as a partner and make sure that this partner and its people are in good shape, and a person called Mc. Cain, who is willing......(and exactly this is the question, what in gods sake is the programm of this guy?)
Does this guy have to say anything beside how bad Obama is??? If yes I would be interested in hearing that.
I do NOT understand how media and thousands of reporters can waste time to find out if it was Roman or Greek style, that was used in the columns. Maybe I am not fitting into this world but I would like to read about the content of this convention if I buy my newspaper and not about the stage decoration.
So these are the queations of a small unimportant guy from a small country in Europe who tries to understand whats going on in the world and wants to share his view with you.
Unfortunately I can not vote for Obama, but I would if I could. And every American should do the same. For the USA, for the world and to keep up the hope that countries are led by people who use their brain to think.
