As I gather more information about the Sarah Palin "Trooper-Gate" chain of events, the more angry I get that she could actually be nominated for the office of VPOTUS.
The essentials are that before she was elected Governor her Sister went through a messy divorce resulting in accusations against her former Brother in Law, a State Trooper. These actions apparently resulted in disciplinary action against him in his employment.
After taking office Palin attempted to use her position as governor to have him removed from the Department, and failing that it is alleged that she fired the Public Safety Commissioner, Walt Monegan.

Article I
State lawmakers launched a $100,000 investigation to determine if Palin dismissed Monegan because he would not fire the governor's ex-brother-in-law, Alaska State Trooper Mike Wooten, who has been involved in a messy custody battle with Palin's sister.
In 2005, before Palin ran for office, the Palin family accused Wooten of drinking beer in his patrol car, illegally shooting a moose and firing a Taser at his 11-year-old stepson. The Palins also claimed Wooten threatened to kill Sarah Palin's father. Wooten was suspended over the allegations for five days in 2006 but still has his job.
Palin denied the commissioner's dismissal had anything to do with her former brother-in-law and denied orchestrating dozens of telephone calls made by staff and family members to Wooten's bosses. The investigation launched by state lawmakers is expected to take at least three months.

Does this remind you of anyone who might, say, originate call to DoJ from the VP office because a certain prosecution or investigation did not come to the desired conclusion.
Article II
At issue is whether Palin, her administration or family improperly pressured Monegan to fire Alaska state trooper Michael Wooten, the ex-husband of Palin's sister, and whether Palin fired Monegan when that didn't happen. Palin's sister, Molly McCann, and Wooten are divorced but still battling in court over custody and visitation.

This month, as her administration gathered materials for the legislative investigation, Palin released a recording of a phone call in which one of her aides pressured a trooper lieutenant to fire Wooten. That contradicted her earlier claims that there had been no pressure. She said she was unaware of the conversation until the investigation uncovered it. She also disclosed that members of her administration had had about two dozen contacts with public safety officials about Wooten.
In the phone call, which was recorded by troopers, as they do routinely, aide Frank Bailey told the trooper lieutenant that Palin and her husband wanted to know why Wooten still has a job.

Do the blanket denials followed by rolling disclosures sound remotely familiar to, say, the followers of current events that may recall a alleged call to a unnamed "journalist" that revealed a covert operative.
The intervention is unrefuted - She attempted to have her ex-brother in law fired. The only issue disputed is whether she fired the Public Safety Commissioner Monegan improperly.
I heard Republican Asshat on MSNBC say that if the Democrats want to defend a Piece of Shit Abuser, Moose Killer, Beer Drinker, then to do so at their own peril. WTF!
Last time I checked this was still America, and there was still Due Process (just kidding, unfortunately), but if this guy committed crimes as alleged then charge him, hold a trial with a jury of his peers, and, if convicted, lock his ass up.
As Governor (VP) you don't just get to decide that some malchik offends you and implement a campaign to have them fired without due process, regardless of the size of the douchebag.
This is more of the Bush/Cheney/McCain approach to Government and a continuation of the Unary Executive Monarchy Philosophy. Would Palin represent another Dick Cheney in the VP office interfering with and politicizing Government Institutions, with continued dread of those eight words "the Vice Presidents office is on the line".
