I just wanted to share a few pics of our Convention Watch Party from last night in Cupertino, CA. I found a pub that would put the Convention on their big screens, and posted the event on MYBO figuring maybe 20 people would show up. By the time Thursday night rolled around I had RSVPs for more than 100 people. Holy moly! About 80 or so showed up, and we had a great time. We even had a reporter from the San Jose Mercury News contact us and then come down to interview people for an article titled: Pub’s patrons get chills: and not from the air conditioning. Heh.
We filled up the whole place. It was so much fun watching the speeches with other Obama supporters – and a very enthusiastic crowd we had. It was almost as good as being there. We got a call from Denver from one of our delegates, Bob Petit, which got people going with the call and response: Fired up! Ready to go! We especially loved the American Voices speakers – and hell yeah, we were tuned to CSPAN. Theresa Brito-Asenap had the place chanting Si Se Puede!; Pamela Cash-Roper had the place roaring with her "Wait till you hear what’s happening to me" line; and Barney Smith got many an "amen" and "mm-hmmm." And, of course, Obama’s speech had people mesmerized. The best speech I’ve ever heard.
Last, but not least, we got contact info for more people wanting to volunteer! Pics from the event...
We filled the whole pub:
