Are you kidding me? He's doing his "people I met on the campaign trail" section of his speech. Does he bring up someone who lost their house? No...
McCain says:
I fight for Americans. I fight for you. I fight for Bill and Sue Nebe from Farmington Hills, Michigan, who lost their real estate investments in the bad housing market. Bill got a temporary job after he was out of work for seven months. Sue works three jobs to help pay the bills.
Real estate investments? Investments! With everyone who's lost a house out there, he decides to focus on someone who lost money in the real estate market. Real in touch candidate there.
Not to mention, a lot of the troubles in the housing market were caused by people making bad real estate investments. All those folks buying houses to flip, filling out Alt A mortgage applications, created false demand in the housing market and drove up prices artificially.
I'm not saying the Nebes were part of the problem. But I think it shows how out of touch McCain is that he focuses on those who lost investments rather than those who lost their actual home. Pathetic.
