If you're reading this here on Daily Kos, you're a political junkie like me. Last week was full of energetic highs and flashes of inspiration and insight. By the weekend we were emotionally exhausted and low on sleep, but ready to come down off the mountaintop, turn on, drop back in and change the world.
But this week? Uhhhh.
What a long, bad trip this week has been, even mercifully cut short one day. Again if you're like me, you probably woke up yesterday morning all strung out and sick to your stomach after Wednesday's night festival of phantoms, hate and fear, led by the white witch Sarah Palin. Do these people really like this kind of intense exposure to these negative, reptilian emotions? Apparently they do, but we'd rather go with a diet of hope and inspiration, with a little spice from righteous anger instead of manufactured outrage.
So what's a Kossack to do to get back some of the mountaintop experience from last week?
Time travel! Yes we can relive last week, and I'll show you how after the jump...
Thanks to the magic of interwebs technology and the work of the folks at the DNCC, you can revisit every moment of the proceedings in Denver. The Convention folks have done a fantastic job this year of getting all the content from the hall out on the web, and it looks great.
(Seriously - the difference in production values is striking. Like a change from watching a commercial for Eddie's Discount Mattress and Pre-Owned Auto Depot to seeing The Dark Knight on 70mm and a big screen.)
Maybe you're at work and don't want sound and video giving you away, but you'd like to read Michelle Obama's speech? It's right there.
Or you could browse the photo gallery from all four nights. There's a blog, though it was probably of more use during the convention itself.
And if you want to go all the way back in time, you can even get photos of the 1908 Democratic Convention in Denver.
Never did find out what the official results of the roll call vote tally was for Obama and Hillary? (Even though it became academic once Senator Clinton called for the acclamation vote?) They got that too.
But the kicker is the video. Oh boy, do they have video. And not little half-res YouTubes either. They went all out to get the latest high-def technology. (I overheard a video guy talking about on the plane out of Denver, but don't ask me to run down the details.) This stuff is crisp, clear and colorful, just like the real thing was. Now you might have to load up some a plug-in or two, but trust me, it's worth it. This is the good stuff.
Did you miss Bill Richardson? He was good - go check it out. Or maybe you'd rather see the presentation of the colors by Navaho Code Talkers? You got it.
So recharge your souls, my fellow Kossacks. Wallow in hope and inspiration for a few hours today, before we go back out to change America.
Go relive Hillary's awesome speech from Tuesday night. Or the dramatic hand-off from Illinois to New York during the roll-call vote.
If you're a fan of those little introductory vamp videos, you can find them here. And of course John Legend, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, and many more.
And when you're done with that, get yourself a big heaping helping of HOPE from Mile High Stadium last Thursday.
