It seems silly to write a diary on this topic because I really have only one thing I want to talk about, one thing I really know, and after one or two diary entries on the same topic I think people will lose interest. And I wrote a book on the topic so people will say I have a conflict of interest. Nevertheless, I want to say that whether Big Ag and Big Pharma are colluding, or it is just a mutually beneficial coincidence, there is a hidden rampant malnutrition in the American populace due specifically to modern farming methods, and the result is an epidemic of heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and mental illness. All of these illnesses are treated with long-term expensive prescription drugs, drugs that do not "cure" the illness but only allow the person to live with the condition.
To save money, big Ag feeds cows and chickens grain instead of the grass and free-range scratching that is their natural diet. This changes the consistency of the meat from being high in omega-3 fatty acids to being high in omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids, which were a major part of the diet humans evolved eating, have almost vanished from the modern American diet because of this. The other sources of omega-3 fatty acids are seafood and wild game. The government has warned against eating most seafood more than a couple times a week because of the polluted oceans, so people eat farm-raised seafood which has the same low omega-3 fatty acid issues as factory-raised beef and poultry. And not too many people eat wild game.
My personal area of expertise is how this malnutrition affects female sexuality, but almost all modern chronic diseases are helped by increasing omega-3 fatty acid intake, as can be seen by this website listing peer-reviewed journal articles showing new research on omega-3's and various diseases

I know that Big Ag is of course under cost pressures; it's much cheaper to produce meat under factory-caged conditions, but I wonder too if this is deliberate, to encourage not only chronic disease and profits for Big Pharma, but also to encourage stupidity and malleability in the general populace (omega-3 fatty acid malnutrition negatively affects intelligence, particularly in children).
