You thought there would be a voice of reason anchoring the debates?
You thought there would be a reality-based assessment of
McCain and Palin's "performance" against Obama and Biden?
You thought the election would get covered fairly?
You thought MSNBC would play that role?
You thought George Carlin was kidding about the media?
You realize that NBC is owned by GE, don't you?
You realize that the GOP is aiming directly at us?
Moving Olbermann and Matthews to the kid's table, just like Ari Fleischer did to Helen Thomas when Bush took over, is a clear signal to everyone else: "Shut up and be good little stenographers or kiss your job good-bye."
Pretend this is not a big deal and expect to see more of this at the Correspondent's Dinner:
Look at what the Times said,
Executives at the channel’s parent company, NBC Universal, had high hopes for MSNBC’s coverage of the political conventions. Instead, the coverage frequently descended into on-air squabbles between the anchors, embarrassing some workers at NBC’s news division, and quite possibly alienating viewers. Although MSNBC nearly doubled its total audience compared with the 2004 conventions, its competitive position did not improve.
Oh horrors! Some workers were embarrassed? Are you kidding me? You think it was the on-air fighting? Isn't that what FOX claims sells? No. I think it was KO's calling bullshit on the GOP waving the bloody shirt of 9/11 for political gain. If anyone should be embarrassed, it is the Republicans. But we know that is asking too much.
Again, look at what the Times reported:
On the final night of the Republican convention, after MSNBC televised the party’s video "tribute to the victims of 9/11," including graphic footage of the World Trade Center attacks, Mr. Olbermann abruptly took off his journalistic hat.
"I’m sorry, it’s necessary to say this," he began. After saying that the video had exploited the memories of the dead, he directly apologized to viewers who were offended. Then, sounding like a network executive, he said it was "probably not appropriate to be shown."
They are going to point to that as... possibly alienating viewers? Really? They don't have market research anymore? They have to guess? Or maybe the viewers they alienated are GE board members and executives who support the use of propaganda to gin up enthusiasm for war without end because it's great for the bottom line.
You think this is not a FIX?
Here's all you need to know:
The only generals in favor of invading Iran
are General Electric and General Technologies.
You think this is a "non-issue" and I'm being overly dramatic? Fine, but don't complain when Gregory starts tap dancing for his owners in an effort to hide the dismal performance of the GOP ticket. Don't complain when election results once again "confounds" the experts. Don't complain when BREAKING NEWS announces "a new front" in the "War on Terror" complete with graphics and gripping theme music. Maybe it won't be Iran, but our ally Pakistan. After all, Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia. To deny that is double-plus ungood.
You think this is redundant? You think this is a joke? Here's what comedian George Carlin says about this sort of crap:
