I have a question for the Democrats: How badly do you want to catch this bus? Doors are closing...
Here's the analogy:
You're standing at the bus stop. You got there, not first, but certainly not last. You've noticed the line growing as the time for the bus to come gets here...and it does come, 3 minutes late, as usual.
Now, you need to take this bus, because you have something important to get to, but you know, with your place in line, that you should at least get a standing spot up front. As the doors open, a few people trickle out, with others in front of you pushing their way onto the bus. This is it, the moment you need to take control. A few people have decided to hop on, illegally, in the back doors. This means less room for you. And then the elbows start to fly. People who were behind you have worked their way in front of you, and the only way to stave them off is to elbow them back, or to squeeze back in front of them.
What are you gonna do? Do you want on this bus or not? Because, the people in the back are already on, and nobody's gonna listen to you say that isn't fair. The people who are pushing and elbowing really want on too, and unless you push and elbow back, you're not catching this ride...
I make this analogy for my friends, the Democratic Party. Well, actually, I'm more of a radical than a liberal or Progressive, but let's just say I want to go to your parties more than I want to hit the after-Church luncheon over in Crawford, Texas.
This election is our bus. The Republican Party, through caging, voting machines, media control and manipulation...hell, they've already hopped on the bus in back. Nobody is going to stop them, the driver doesn't care, and unless the already resigned folks in the back want a physical altercation, nobody is going to do shit about these folks.
There's the Democratic Candidates, who are standing there trying to be polite, and there's everyone else, elbowing and pushing their way on the bus.
I wish I could explain this to Obama/Biden. They're being polite, when what they really want is to be on the bus. Actually, what they really need is to be on the bus, and it is going to require some pushing and shoving to do it. All this pleasant, "McCain is an honorable man, and Palin is a gifted politician" bullshit has to stop.
It is past time, we're in it now...here's where we stand, folks. You're either gonna be on that bus, or you're gonna be standing there as the doors close, wondering how you missed the shot - you were there early, did everything right, and you still didn't get on. Politeness is weakness at this point. Time to elbow yourselves onto the damned bus, and if it offends someone behind you, guess what? They're gonna be just fine, they know they weren't supposed to be on before you, and they'll respect you more for holding fast. If you'd let them get on before you, they will just smile, knowing that once again, they got ahead of another sucker who just doesn't know the game...
What's it gonna be?
