I recieved a heartfelt email from my cousin in San Diego yesterday. She has asked me to share her message with my freinds. I consider all of you to be freinds so here you go:
For my friends and family,
Hello everyone. I'm not one for pushing politics but I would hope you understand I have to do what I feel is right.
So...Proposition 8 is coming in November and I have already received quite a few phone calls asking for my help to "stop" the opportunity for gay folk to marry.
You all have come to know [redacted] and I over the past 12 years, and you know how important we are to each other. So it is with much understanding that I would ask that you learn a little about Proposition 8 (see Wikipedia below).
Help us have the choice to marry, and the choice to have or decline all the medical and inheritance rights - by telling everyone you know that you do NOT support this amendment to the Constitution.
If you disagree, we respect that, however if you agree, please help us by first voting NO on 8 and secondly, by telling absolutely everyone you know what Proposition 8 really is so they can decide. Quite a few years ago, Proposition 22 was voted into law because no one talked about it. We were very happy to see it overturned as unconstitutional in May of this year. Many of the people I talked to after that ballot measure passed said they would have voted against it if they had known. Well, now you know about Proposition 8, and you can do something about it if you choose.
Thank you everyone for your love and support.

.here is the wikipedia entry for prop 8.
I was living in Hawaii when they realised that their constitution could not prohibit same sex marriages. I watched the radicals come out from the mainland and spend more money than had been seen on a proposition that they sponsored to shut the door on the idea of equality in love. I was discusted at the way they played on the spirit of "ohana" or family, to get their repressive measure passed. I expect the same thing will happen in California. Please help to extend freedom and equality to all americans by defeating prop. 8. Hopefully, the right to be equal will continue to spread acroos the United States.
So be sure to tell everyone you know that a vote FOR prop 8 is a vote AGAINST human equality and a vote AGAINST prop 8 is a vote FOR the right to marry the person that you love.
