Okay, friends:
This ad isn't made yet, but it ought to be. And yes, it involves Governor Palin and Senator McCain.
In essence, its a way to stay on the offense with Governor Palin, and to finally tie Palin around Senator McCain's neck in a fatal embrace.
Not a troll diary, follow me below the fold if you like strategizing.
Yesterday Senator Obama used the "lipstick on a pig" slogan. A general uproar has followed. Have you noticed how Governor Palin's voice has gone up half an octave as she responds? She actually sounds like she's squealing! Senator Obama has not backed down. Great.
But that's this 24 - 48 hour cycle. Now that the protests have gone out, the public is watching for a further Obama response. Here's my idea for an ad:
Title: What would you call it?
Narrator: Since John McCain demonstrated his judgement by picking Governor Sarah Palin as his Vice-Presidential pick, we've heard lots of this:
Clip of Palin at convention: "I said 'thanks but no thanks' to the Bridge to Nowhere."
Narrator: Oh, but Governor, you didn't.
Narrator: You tried to get votes for Governor by promising to use federal earmarks to build the bridge to Nowhere.
Picture of Palin holding up blue shirt.
Narrator: When John McCain attacked the bridge as the worst example of Pork he could name, you stopped plans to build the bridge.
Picture of newspaper where McCain lists bridge as pork.
Narrator: But you didn't give the money back.
Narrator: You used the money to build . . .a road to nowhere
Picture of road Palin built to the beach.
Narrator: because otherwise you would have had to return the money to U.S. taxpayers.
Narrator: John McCain is trying to make Governor Palin look like a reformer.
Narrator: they don't like how her record is being reported in the press.
Narrator: But how would you describe it?
Narrator: Sarah Palin and John McCain: lacking the experience and the wisdom to lead America.
Picture of both slide into view, then side by side.
Senator Obama: I'm Barack Obama, and I approved this ad . . .
Because the American people deserve serious candidates who tell the truth about how they will deal with the important issues our country faces.
