Idiots! How are we supposed to listen to Republicans run on about Palin’s executive experience without mentioning George W. Bush? Her experience is eerily similar to Bush’s experience as a first-term governor suddenly promoted out of his depth to the presidency.
And, the moment Palin is compared to Obama they should be interrupting with "and McCain". Everything they say about this applies 100% to McCain.
But, Palin is exactly like Bush: incurious, inflexible, with weak financial skills and wholly lacking in foreign policy experience or ideas. Remember Bush came into office on a platform of "no nation building"? Let’s have someone interview Palin the way Bill O’Reilly interviewed Obama. How about having Rachel Maddow interview her, instead of the mild-mannered Charlie Gibson?
Palin shows us exactly what to expect from McCain if he ever gets into office. This is his example of how the executive should be run? Gack!
What a bunch of wimps! Why haven’t Democratic representatives completely wiped Palin off the front page when she has so many obvious flaws?
Let’s get this straight:
(1) Palin’s experience is like George Bush’s experience. Should she stumble into the office like Bush did (in his case on fudged elections), why wouldn’t she be just like him? George W. Bush, Jr.? Give me a break!
(2) Palin was a huge spendthrift as mayor. She increased taxes on the poor and left the city steeply in debt.
(3) McCain’s pick of Palin shows poor judgment. Is he planning to run the government the way Palin did? Is he planning to continue borrowing and leave it to the next President (presumably a Democrat) to clean it all up?
The task for Democrats is to tie McCain-Palin to George Bush and remind potential Republican voters that they have no understanding of fiscal policy or economics. They would continue to run up debt and take money out of the economy. No self-respecting true Republican would vote for this pair. Fiscal responsibility! How can you claim to be a Republican if you are stupid about money? Are we going to get another snakebit President with the reverse-Midas touch?
Look, when Bush came into office there was a huge accumulation of wealth in the United States. The Republicans have combined with big, multinational companies to extract as much of this money as they can. Any available cash has been shipped off to China for goods, India for services, and various dictatorships for oil. The federal government borrowed beyond our means to support foreign wars that take up about another 3% of the federal budget, a sizeable multiple of what is spent domestically on earmarks. Not only did they spend the money we had saved up for our retirements, they spent money we didn’t have.
This is exactly what you can expect from another Republican administration, with one minor exception: There’s no money left. It’s all gone.
This means that a Republican administration would tank the economy. The economy desperately needs cash to flow into the middle class. Otherwise, there will be no money to spend. Obama has the right answer here: a tax cut for the middle classes and the working poor that will pump some money into the part of the economy that really needs it. Bubble up economics has a huge advantage over trickle down: it works.
Perhaps Republican voters should consider that before they put up another guy who hasn’t given any serious thought to the economy and would continue the policies of The Bandits.
