Did you know that John McCain has an IMDB page (who can forget his Oscar-worthy performance in Wedding Crashers)? Almost anyone who's been in a movie or TV show has.
But looking at it, it seems kinda thin. I mean, there's no quotes or even a "goofs" section like other pages.
So here's some suggestions I have to spruce the page up a bit...
Factual errors: John McCain claimed that based on the fire marshal, a September 10th rally in Fairfax City, Va, brought in 23,000 people. Several newspapers has put the actual number at one-third of that figure and Fairfax City Fire Marshal has said that the fire department does not monitor attendance at outdoor events.
Revealing mistakes: Carly Fiorina says that John McCain is not qualified to run a corporation, but he can run the country, even though the United States is larger than any known American corporation.
Miscellaneous: John McCain's views on abortion and stem cell research are conservative, but nowhere near as conservative as his party's platform.
Continuity: John McCain's Campaign claims that he helped invent the Blackberry, but his most ardent supporters say that McCain doesn't use computers (to send email) because of his POW injuries. A Blackberry is essentially a (small) computer.
Revealing mistakes: While visiting Iraq in April 2007 John McCain told reporters that "his visit to the market today was proof that you could indeed 'walk freely' in some areas of Baghdad," even though he was wearing a bulletproof vest and was being guarded by "100 American soldiers, with three Blackhawk helicopters, and two Apache gunships overhead."
Continuity: Barack Obama not attending town hall meetings with John McCain has nothing to do with the creation of McCain-sponsored negative campaign ads directed towards Obama.
Anachronisms: John McCain claims that two years ago he warned federal officials of a financial crisis, but according to an interview with the NH Sentinel Source in November 2007 he said on the subject of predicting financial problems, "I don’t know of hardly anybody, with the exception of a handful, that said 'wait a minute, this thing is getting completely out of hand and is overheating.' So, I’d like to tell you that I did anticipate it, but I have to give you straight talk, I did not."
Factual errors: John McCain claims that the Senate Commerce Committee (which he was a Chairman and is now a member of) oversees every part of the America Economy. Actually, it is the Senate Banking Committee that has oversight of "banks, banking and financial institutions," which are the groups related to this recent econmic crisis.
Miscellaneous: In January 2008, when he was asked about George W. Bush's statement that U.S. forces could remain in Iraq for 50 years, John McCain replied, "Make it 100," and followed up with, "We've been in South Korea...we've been in Japan for 60 years. We've been in South Korea 50 years or so. That would be fine with me."
Errors in geography: In an interview with Union Radio John McCain inferred that Spain is in South America, when Spain is actually located in Europe.
Continuity: John McCain claims that he will change Washington, D.C., but George W. Bush also made that claim back in the 2000 Election.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): John McCain's running mate claimed to have given her convention acceptance speech without a telepromter, saying that it malfunctioned. The teleprompter never had a major malfunction, and the original speech was written for a male candidate to give.
If anyone has any extra suggestions, let me know. Just make sure you put the type (Continuity, Revealing Mistakes, etc.) in the header.
