McCain's brief lead in RCP national average has come to an end. Now Obama leads by 1.7 points.
So, we can officially announce the end of McPain bounce.
More after the fold.
Not just that. Obama is leading or ties in all national polls under consideration except one.
Looking at the history we see that McCain has had brief moments of glory in the past one year.
The first lead lasted from 12/20 to 2/04, with a high of 2.7% on 1/15. There were long periods of tie in between.
The second lead lasted from 3/15 to 4/14, with a high of 1.5% on 3/15. There were periods of Obama lead in between.
The latest lead lasted from 9/7 to 9/16 - a mere 9 days - with a high of 2.9%.
So, all we have to do is to make sure Obama's lead lasts as long as the last one that lasted nearly 5 months. But I guess it will be a bumpy ride - what with debates and lot of swift boat attacks in store. Look out for swift boat attacks coming late in the game ... trying to ambush Obama's campaign.
Everytime there is a bit of reversal we should look back and see how short McCain's glory days last ...
