In my perusing of the internets today, I came across a friend's blog. He and I habitually disagree on politics (as he is a card-carrying, I-don't-care-who-it-is-as-long-as-there-is-an-'R'-behind-their-name Republican, VERY contrary to his own interests) but today I was taken aback by the sheer venom of his blog post.
It seems that MoveOn.org is single-handedly responsible for the "huge financial crisis" that we currently find ourselves in because...wait for it...they keep mailing out Obama buttons and running ads on MySpace and FaceBook!
To quote Barack for a moment..."I'm not making this up..."
Here is the link to his blog
Now, knowing the person in question, I have a perspective into what it is that has him so pissed off.
First and foremost, his chosen campaign apparently hasn't the foggiest notion what a 'social networking' site is, let alone how to purchase advertising on such a site. Consequently, all the political advertising he sees on these sites is Democrat related. Fortunately, he is able to keep his sanity by watching Fox Noise while he's online. And I can't prove it, but something tells me that it was something on that channel that got him started on this anyway...
Secondly, he KNOWS that his chosen Presidential candidate is a crotchety, mean old bastard that can't hold a candle to his Democratic rival, and that the pretty VP pro-lifer has more skeletons in her closet than Madame LeLaurie. But goddammit it's not fair to bring that shit up because it makes us Dems bad people! Only right-wingers are allowed to do that to Dems!
Third, I know that he's not stupid enough to believe that MoveOn.org's finances come from anywhere other than donations. And he knows that the donations are made in an effort to elect a Democratic president. So, to suggest that MoveOn.org should be spending their money in any way other than it's intended purpose is ridiculous and he knows it.
Finally, if all else fails, he has the Republican trick of passive-aggressive guilt-tripping down to a science!
Alright, I'm done ranting. It just sort of struck me that GOPers are attacking and blaming anything and everything that doesn't have their filthy little hands all over it in this election. And it reeks of blatant desperation!
