If we all commit to donating to Barack Obama each time a 527 ad attacking him is shown on TV, our voice will be heard loud and clear. Please follow me below the fold.
While watching Rachel Maddow last night on MSNBC, you may have noticed an ad that ran twice from Vets for Freedom. The ad can be seen at the above link, and without directly supporting, or declaring support for McCain, it derides Obama for not admitting that the "Surge" has been successful.
The organization describes itself and its mission as:

.
This seems rather benign. They further state that they support policy makers from both sides of the aisle who support their aim, which seems to be to continue endless war:
Vets for Freedom PAC is a Political Action Committee whose mission is to help candidates—mostly combat veterans—who believe in achieving success in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the overall War on Terrorism, get elected to the United States Congress and other Federal positions.
Established by combat veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan on November 11, 2007, Veterans Day, VFFPAC will endorse and offer extended support through financial contributions and media assistance to Republicans, Democrats, and Independents who support victory in the Global War on Terrorism. Bottom Line: VFFPAC will support those who support victory — that is our only litmus test.
So, we have a 527 that doesn't directly link itself in any way to the RNC nor to McCain, yet the majority of its articlesThe endorsement link lists such esteemed supporters and luminaries as George W. Bush, Joe Lieberman, Lindsay Graham, and Bill Kristol.
What caught my attention in their ad is that it focuses on Obama's stance against the Iraqi occupation, and although the organization declares that it endorses and offers support to candidates who support victory in the "war on global terrorism", there is no mention or commendation for Obama based on his stance that the war must focus Afghanistan.
In my opinion, this organization is a sham, and the ad that they ran last night so enraged me, that I went to their website, clicked on the Contact Us link, and sent them a message stating my disapproval, and further stated that I will donate to Barack Obama's campaign once for every time I see there ad on television.
Now, my wife and I both work and are raising four children, so we don't have much to throw around, but I think that from now until November I can at least send $10 bucks each time I see one of these 527 ads. The important thing is to contact the 527 each time the donation is made.
