Over the past couple of weeks, more and more journalists have come to recognize that John McCain is running a sleazy, lying campaign... but a surprising number are still stuck on the tire swing.
Well, the word has come down from the McCain campaign: it's time for those holdouts to step up and call a lie a lie.
Are you listening, McCain apologists? The McCain campaign has given you your marching orders... and just this once I sincerely hope that you'll take them at their word.
A moment ago, Tucker Bounds was on MSNBC and said the following:
It is a lie for Barack Obama to say that Phil Gramm is advising this campaign on economic policy. It is an outright lie, and it is going to stop. Because reporters are going to recognize that when sombody says something that's not true, it needs to be reported as not being true.
So go ahead - give Tucker Bounds his wish! The next time John McCain starts spewing nonsense, you are free to call a LIE a LIE.
