How long's it been since I did one of these? Uhh...looks like April. Well, I've lived at least briefly in 4 different apartments and 3 different states and/or Districts since then (counting the one I was in at the time) -- I'm hoping the one I'm in now will last a while.
New job, new apartment, pretty much new everything -- though not, thank goodness, mostly new friends. I mean, there are some new friends, but also the same old ones.
But here's my question. A new season of television is starting, and I've been without tv for like 3 months. I haven't seen ads for new shows, haven't given any thought to the ones I'd been watching. What should I be watching this season? Now, I have limited time. Maybe 2 hours many weekday evenings (and I don't plan to spend all that time watching tv anyway). So what's worth my time, and why?
My picks. As much as I value the focus here on commenting and conversation, today I must say that I think the most important thing on the site was Devilstower's magnificent Three Times is Enemy Action. If you haven't read it yet, go do so now.
Then I think you should read the comments in Christin's recommended diary Please. Please. Please.. There are a ton of great canvass stories there, but here are a few not very systematically chosen ones from indybend, Pager, bethcf4p, loretta, and madame defarge.
Craiger nominates this excellent and amusing recipe exchange between decembersue, Plutonium Page, and Elwood Dowd.
From sardonyx:
In Devilstower's excellent front-page post Three Times is Enemy Action, a gilas girl notes how poor McCain is at being a leader.
From professorfate's rescued diary from yesterday, I look at my daughter and despair for her, a post-rescue comment by Joseph Hale, who explains why he's guardedly optimistic.
phrogge prince on how Bush bragged and was wrong yet again.
dansac's diary Volunteer Report From the Ground: Pennsylvania yields another such report in a comment by Michael James which also mentions many ways to volunteer.
Neon Vincent says "In "Crisis Fatigue" xaxnar gives a detailed response to A Siegel about the current situation. It's lengthy, but worth reading."
kck says "Great comment from War Horse from Bob Sackamento's diary."
