Since McCain's request to postpone Friday's debate, there has been speculation why. Is he afraid of Obama? Personally, I doubt it. My impression is that at he is too delusional to be afraid. He, like Bush, has been spreading his BS so long that he has bought into it himself.
His handlers, on the other hand, are a different matter. They are scared sh*tless -- of McCain.
For weeks now, here and elsewhere we have been speculating what McInsertinsultofyourchoice will do during the debates. Obama supporters everywhere have been hoping and praying that Johnny Mac will stand before the nation, live and in color ($5000 worth of make-up in place) and make a complete fool out of himself. Our fondest wish is that the debates will reveal his a-holeness for all the world to see.
More below.
Scenarios abound how the much-anticipated McCain im- or explosion might come about: Hissy fit? Heart attack? Gaffe a.k.a. senior moment? Racial slurs? So many ways to sink his own campaign -- which one will it be?
If that has occurred to us, certainly his campaign people are aware of the countless ways by which McCain might commit career suicide. They also realize that things haven't gone so well for Johnny Mac lately. The media no longer adore him. His health, or at least his appearance, is deteriorating -- he has gone from Grandpa to living corpse in a few short months. His sidekick has taken center stage.
All the more reason for Johnny Mac to get desperate (he is not as delusional as to think everything is fine), and when he's desperate, he gets angry. When he gets angry, he gets verbally abusive. If someone can call his wife a you-know-what, there is no telling what he might call the one man who stands between him and the final item on his bucket list.
His handlers know that, and it scares the crap out of them.
