Putting aside the bailout, I’d like to kick around a narrow aspect of this failure.
Wall Street owns the Republican party. It’s their party – lock, stock, and barrel.
They’ve been creating and financing these monsters for 100 years. And you know why – greed. The GOP was Wall Street’s vessel for tax cuts and deregulation.
They even financed an attempted coup of FDR, in the hopes of overturning The New Deal and installing a puppet dictator, but they failed when they approached the wrong man, General Smedley Butler.
Wall Street was begging for this bailout and their Congressional monsters cut and ran, in hopes of playing the populist card [Chuck Todd says their vote was political, and not on the merits].
I wonder how the the heartless, merchants of greed feel now.
All that money. All that influence. All that support. In the end, the amoral and immoral monsters turned on their masters.
CRASH!!!
P.S. Another rich irony: this morning, one of McCain’s surrogates prematurely took credit for the bill’s prospective passage (sound familiar), saying the bill would have failed without McCain's return to Washington, getting House Republican on board. There you have it; McCain took ownership of a turkey of a bill that ultimately failed. The reverse Midas touch.
►Nice Job, Johnny - Dow down 777 points.
UPDATE
► MSNBC is running a clip of McSame taking credit for the bill's passage during this morning's rally. It's BLOWN UP in his face. HA!
► Matthews and even Joe Scarbourgh are hammering McMaverick.
► P.S. Tigers and White Sox are locked in an epic struggle, 2-2, bottom of the 6th.
UPDATE II
► Sox break it open, take 6-2 lead into the 7th. 30 years after the Bucky Dent game (10.2.78), we will have a special one game tie-breaker, tomorrow at Comiskey Park.
