Today, we hit the airwaves with Jim Esch's first ad of the 2008 campaign:
For ten years, Lee Terry has been the Congressman from Nebraska's Second District. During that time, he has passed only one bill. He has been a reliable vote for House Republicans, but has yet to accomplish anything in Congress. And while gas prices were at record highs, Lee Terry was claiming credit for the energy policies that got us into that mess.
Our opponent offers nothing more than the same old political games. At every turn, he has attacked us with ads and mailers that range from misleading statements to complete fabrications. Lee Terry knows that this race is close, and that he cannot win by running on his record.
Fortunately, in this election, there is a better choice. Jim Esch will provide real leadership for the people of Nebraska's Second District. With a true grassroots effort in 2006, Jim Esch came close to beating Lee Terry. That grassroots support has multiplied, as our district is quickly becoming a national battleground. For the first time in decades, a Democratic Presidential candidate has a chance to win in Nebraska. Voters in this district are ready for change, and with Jim Esch, we will bring change to Washington.
