The President's own Party promised eleven more votes to pass the bailout bill yesterday, then threw a hissy fist and opted not vote. Nancy Pelosi had hurt their feeling so they decided to blow up America, the country that McCain puts 'first'. Yet Katie Couric rips House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland: "Why weren't you able to deliver more Democrats, so you could prevent this major failure of American government today?" Matt Lauer this morning hammered Majority Whip James Clybourn because he only delivered 60% of the Democrats.
Now folks are calling for the Democrats to deliver all the votes so that the hallowed Republicans can sit this one out. Lauer asked an open question "Are their any leaders in Washington anymore, Democrat or Republican? McCain's big political stunt did not work to help McCain get some political credit and rescue his candidacy. He failed miserably and embarrassingly. With this new stunt from the Republicans, the media is calling it 'Washington's problem.'
The Republicans have dropped a steaming pile of shit in the form of a tanking economy. Now they want to walk away and act like they did not excrete it.
The Republicans held out because they did now want to lose their seats in the upcoming election. They should be excoriated. The media is now jumping in to avert the political damage to John McCain and his plummeting polls.
From my perch, this one is the Republican's fault and they must be for forced to own it. The Republicans are maneuvering so that Democrats will also look bad. They hope if they stretch this far enough they can force some of the blame unto the Democrats shoulders and they will be forced to pay a political price for Bush's catastrophe.
The American public is not this stupid. They have lived this nightmare for eight years and they know exactly who is to blame.
