You can learn a lot about someone from what they read. Or in Sarah Palin's case, what she doesn't read.
Sarah Palin Can't Name a Newspaper She Reads:
COURIC: And when it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this — to stay informed and to understand the world?
PALIN: I’ve read most of them, again, with a great appreciation for the press, for the media —
COURIC: But what ones specifically? I’m curious.
PALIN: Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years.
COURIC: Can you name any of them?
PALIN: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news.

I love C.S. Lewis--y'know, very, very deep--and very intruiging reading, anything from C.S. Lewis. I love, believe it or not, Dr. George Sheehan, years ago. He was a Runner's World columnist, and I still have some of his columns, Dr. George Sheehan, he's passed away. But very inspiring and very motivating. He was an athlete and I think so much of what you learn in athletics, about competition and healthy living, that he was able to encapsulate, has stayed with me all these years.
Why do I think "anything from C.S. Lewis" is more from the The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe end of the bookshelf and less from the Mere Christianity end? I'm particularly interested in her thoughts on what C.S. Lewis called "The Great Sin":
The vice I am talking of is Pride or Self-Conceit: and the virtue opposite to it, in Christian morals, is called Humility. You may remember, when I was talking about sexual morality, I warned you that the centre of Christian morals did not lie there. Well, now, we have come to the centre. According to Christian teachers, the essential vice, the utmost evil, is Pride. Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness, and all that, are mere fleabites in comparison: it was through Pride that the devil became the devil: Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind.
Also, why do I get the feeling "encapsulate" was on her Word-of-the-Day calendar?
