I don't know if I'm alone on this, but the last 2-3 days have exhausted me. I'm sick of the drama of Washington politics, and am now more convinced than ever that we all need a "Calgon moment" (just take me away! Is it November yet?) and this diary is the closest I can get to that via Kos. So the purpose of this diary is just to give you all something to smile about. A nice way to start your day. Pumping up Barack Obama instead of putting down that "white haired dude."
So follow me over the bump, I guarantee you'll find SOMETHING to smile about :o)
The following is from my "Stop the DRAMA vote Obama" diary:
This entire debacle makes me more fully appreciate our candidate and his utter LACK of drama. Hell, he's almost boring, and I love it! He knows how to fire up a crowd without demonizing his opponent (it helps that his opponent does a damn good job of demonizing himself).
Throughout this entire mess, Senator Obama has been doing what he does best: keeping a steady hand on the wheel while working behind the scenes to keep up with what's going on. Senator Chris Dodd pointed out a day or so ago that Obama had been talking to people since the "crisis" broke. McCain was nowhere to be found until polls started showing him in trouble. Then all of a sudden McDrama was suspending his campaign and running off to DC (where he hadn't been since April, at least not on the Hill).
Jed put together a video showing the difference between the two reactions of the candidates:
Throughout this campaign, Senator Obama has shown he has the judgment, temperament, ability, and willingness to be a leader. He doesn't SEEK the spotlight, it just kind of naturally finds him. In fact, The Hill had an article yesterday about how Obama HAS been working on the financial issues facing the country. For all of the claims that Obama hasn't done anything in his time in the Senate, it looks like he's done a hell of a lot more than McCain since he's been there.
Neither Sen. McCain (Ariz.) nor Sen. Obama (Ill.) sits on the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, which is taking the lead in the upper chamber of molding the bailout plan.
McCain is the lead sponsor of 38 pieces of legislation during the 110th Congress, none of which have been referred to the Banking panel, according to a review of Thomas, a congressional website.
Obama has introduced 130 measures during this Congress. Five of Obama’s standalone bills fall within the Banking Committee's jurisdiction.
Obama’s legislation calls for bolstering housing assistance for veterans, amending the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934 to provide shareholders with an advisory vote on executive compensation, halting mortgage transactions that promote fraud, authorizing local and state governments to crack down on companies that invest in Iran's energy sector and authorizing a pilot program to prevent at-risk veterans from becoming homeless.
So McCain needs all of the drama, because if people just focus on his "substance" there's nothing there.
So in honor of Senator Obama, I'm dedicating my diary today to NO DRAMA. I'm sure today will be another stressful day, so my purpose is to give us all a place to chill out and relax, have some fun.
Being Drama-free is great. Here are some pictorial reminders of what "no drama" gives us:

and the following is from my Barack Obama and Joe Biden had a busy Weekend: Video, Speeches, and Pics:
Hi All! So while the McSnooze campaign was on vacation/regrouping/thinking of new ways to smear Obama this weekend, our candidates, their wives, and Hillary Clinton were out on the trail, and I'd say they had a pretty good weekend.
It all started in North Carolina where approximately 18,000 people greeted Senators Obama and Biden:
For those of you who wanted to see Obama with more fire, there it is! He went after McCain in ways people wish he'd done in the debate. Looking back, I think we can all pretty much agree that Obama did what he needed to do in the debates, and now he's doing what he needs to do on the stump. I really think Obama is even MORE fired up when Joe is around. He really is the fire to Obama's ice. Click here for full Transcript of his NC remarks as prepared.
Pics from NC:
Then it was off to Virginia where Senators Obama and Biden were greeted with rain and about 26,000 people. But our ticket can clearly take a little water, and so can our supporters! People stood out there in the rain, without umbrellas, to hear these guys. That's dedication. I even saw some Black women there (and we usually don't deal with getting our hair wet unless we are washing it) (LOL)
Pics from VA:
Michelle Obama and Jill Biden (the new Dynamic Duo) went to Tallahassee, Florida to get people to register and participate in voter registration drives:
Then Senator Obama headed off to the Congressional Black Caucus to receive an award and give a truly inspiring speech (I'm looking to see if the prepared remarks are anywhere):
CBC Pics:
Then both couples headed to Detroit where EVERYONE was fired up and ready to go. Unfortunately Michelle and Jill didn't speak (Barack said Michelle decided she just wanted to "sit there and look cute" the crowd was really disappointed when they found out she wouldn't be speaking. But I did learn that apparently in his house Barack ranks as the 3rd most influential (behind Michelle and Malia because Sasha does whatever Malia does ~lol~), but he may be 4th because Sasha may have moved past him at this point. It was a really cute moment. I haven't found Barack's speech yet, but here's Joe Biden's (and his speech was AWESOME). Click here to read full transcript of Barack's prepared remarks:
Here's Obama's speech:
Pics from Detroit:
If you can only listen to one full speech, listen to that VA speech, or the CBC speech both are awesome, but the ad libbing Obama did in VA is AMAZING. Trust me, you'll wish you'd been there in person, rain and all. . .
And this is all new stuff:
Yesterday's speech, it's awesome! Senator Obama is really getting better at breaking things down so it makes sense to the average person.
Oh, and if you STILL haven't smiled, well the Republicans had a MAJOR FAIL in opposing the Ohio register and vote law. US Appeals Court upholds the law. And the Ohio State Supreme Court upheld it too! So if you're in Ohio, and you know some people who aren't registered, tell them they can register AND vote at the same time until October 6th! And our Secretary of State is a DEMOCRAT now, so Ohio votes won't go uncounted!
