More scary Palin speak this time on the topic of freedom of the press. If anyone is still not convinced that she would make the scariest VP in the history of this country, read below the fold on what she has to say on the topic of freedom of the press.
Here are some excerpts from her Fox "interviews" where she rambles on about freedom of the press.
This fragment is particularly telling:
"As we send our young men and women overseas in a war zone to fight for democracy and freedoms, including freedom of the press, we've really got to have a mutually beneficial relationship here with those fighting the freedom of the press, and then the press, though not taking advantage and exploiting a situation, perhaps they would want to capture and abuse the privilege. We just want truth, we want fairness, we want balance."
Yes, it is more incoherent Palinspeak gibberish but let's put our minds into deciphering what the hell she's actually trying to say there:
got to have a mutually beneficial relationship here with those fighting the freedom of the press
Say that again, Sarah? We have to have a beneficial relationship with autocrats? Despots? People suppressing free speech? What the hell are you trying to say here?
and then the press, though not taking advantage and exploiting a situation, perhaps they would want to capture and abuse the privilege.
What? Hang on, you really ARE trying to say that the media are "abusing" the "privilege" of free speech. Sarah, I've got some news for you, honey. This country was founded on this ancient document called the Constitution that you might have heard of (then again maybe not). Well in case you have heard about it you might also want to read it some time. It's not very long. And lest you miss the important bit let me draw your attention to this little clause known as the 1st Amendment:
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
This shouldn't be very hard to follow, Sarah. What it's saying is that in this country, under this constitution the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press is a goddamn RIGHT not a 'privilege'.
Sarah, if you do not know this, you are not qualified to pass the third grade. I'm not even talking about leading this country. Just go back to being a perky girl in Alaska. You have no business and no knowledge to govern this nation. You are a manifestation of all that is wrong with the education system in this country. Just go away and never come come back. We have had enough of you. Begone!
