The New York Times, bless 'em, has chosen a panel of military vets to blog the debate:
The New York Times enlisted former and current military personnel from around the country to weigh in on the second presidential debate in real time. Look out for their remarks on The Caucus when the debate starts at 9 p.m. Eastern.
They recruited several of their panelists at military.com at this link.
At least one of their choices, Robert Poorman, of Chicago, is a full-on bigot with 20 pages of hate-filled anti-Obama posts at military.com. See below for Poorman's "Obama-is-a-terrorist-Muslim" slime. Or better yet, write the reporter who recruited him, Philip Caulfield and ask him to pull the gentleman... or at least NOTE his history of hate and abuse towards Senator Obama, instead of simply identifying him as a veteran:
philip.caulfield@nytimes.com
First of all, Robert Poorman uses the made-up handle Opfor6 to post at military.com. His main reason for posting there seems to be that he hates Obama. You name the Rove talking point about Obama -- he believes it. Check out this graphic he posted of Obama's name twisted into Soviet-style sickle AND Islamic crescent moon.
He pats himself on the back for his own cleverness, too. And note the date -- he posted it on October 2nd, a day AFTER he signed up to blog the debate for the NY Times.
You notice that this bumper sticker is a double entendre or maybe better to call it a subliminal quality.
He smears Senator Obama's family -- wife, kids, dog -- they're all commies and terrorists, according to Opfor6. No target is too small and innocent for his wheelbarrowloads of smear-filled crumpets:
I wonder who are the godparents for Mary Ann and Natasha Obama? Communists or Terrorists.
He has claimed scores of times that Obama is a secret Muslim -- here's one instance:
"Obama defends his Muslim faith this morning on ABC's George Stephanopoulos on "This Week,"
He repeats GOP smears constantly:

[posted by Opfor6] You mean like Syrian born "Papa Tony" Rezko? The head of the Democratic Club.
The Democratic club is an Arab American organization in Chicago area made up by wealthy Arab American businessmen who hold fundraising events for the Democrats.
Opfor6 is one of the biggest conspiracy-theorists/non-reality-based posters at military.com. Here's his take on Joe Biden's words about global warming at the veep debate:
I nearly lost it when Biden said that climate change was totally man made. What an idiot. Totally clueless spouting conventional wisdom which we all know is most always wrong.
What a stupid thing to say. Shows a lack of understanding and that he is devoid of fact. I found it colossal hubris. To think that mankind has that kind of impact is seer arrogance.
We can't start or end or control climate change. All we can do is what we have been doing for a hundred thousand years and that is hang on and adapt of die.
UPDATE: Added Poorman's 'Obama/Crescent Moon/Commie Sickle graphic. If you write the NY Times, compliment them on reaching out to gather in veterans and serving military personnel to blog the debate. Currently serving members of the military, especially the ground forces, have fought the war in Iraq and Afghanistan while the rest of us followed President Bush's orders to "go shopping and enjoy your tax cuts". But note that by advertising for bloggers at the military.com 'Hot Topics: Election 2008' discussion board, they guaranteed that some of the MOST rabidly partisan posters would see their ad and respond. Pete Commander, of Waco Texas, is another extremely biased poster at military.com who has hundreds of anti-Obama posts to his credit.
UPDATEx2: Here's Pete Commander's self-selected avatar at mil.com.
You can see it here. Mr. Commander ('Commander' is his name, not his rank) isn't as vicious as Mr. Poorman, but he's just as anti-Obama:
OR perhaps (what the real story is) comparing a wholesome childrens character to a socialist [my bold] presidential candidate [Senator Obama] is "offensive and utterly out of keeping with the [wholesome family] values Curious George represents."
UPDATEx3: Here's more Poorman on Senator Obama. What would a President Obama do if confronted by the Russians:
Group hug everyone before I surrender.
...
What Would Obama Say = WWOS
WWOS - Pronounced Wuss
UPDATEx4: You can comment about Mr Poorman and Mr Commander's take on the debate on the debate blog, here. The moderators appear to prefer briefer comments -- and would appear to prefer that comments be about the debate rather than about the commenters pre-existing bias. So, my guess would be that if you commented on Mr Poorman or Mr Commander's bias in the context of their comments, you'd get published.
Here's one Poorman doozie: "9:44 pm Sen. Obama said that we need to use the resources that are available to America, like offshore oil fields, resources that are currently being explored by Russia, the Cubans and the Chinese." Uhunh. Poorman is repeating the proven-false GOP claim that Cuba is allowing China to search for/drill for oil in the area between Florida and Cuba. Don't know where he gets Russia, tho.
And another Poorman: "9:09 pm I think that one of the important things that is on most people’s minds is, now that we have reached an agreement as to a bailout for our economy, I want to know what are we going to do to prevent this again? Not finger pointing but how will the candidates plan to reverse the policies that caused this problem. Affordable home ownership is admirable but it is obvious that the standards for getting a loan was too low and that the people seeking loans were not knowledgeable enough mortgage process and the risks."
Poorman set this one up well, IMO, but he ends with the GOP talking point that people seeking loans, not the totally unregulated investment banks and other unregulated lenders who granted 80% of the sub-prime loans, are at fault.
