An estimated 15,000 supporters welcomed Barack Obama to the Queen City on a sunny Fall afternoon. Cincinnati has been historically very red. But times, they are a changin'.
Barack was introduced by a woman named Raquel (sorry, can't find her last name) that was a victim of layoffs when Ford shut down it's plant. She talked of how her husband was able to take another job with the company, but now has to commute a much longer way to get to work. She pointed out why it's important that we elect Barack to change the policies that allow these companies to ship jobs overseas.
As ghostargot mentions in her diary, I was pleasantly surprised to see a good number of Obama/Biden yard signs in the Hyde Park area, where Ault Park is located.
Below are photos I got at the rally. Enjoy!
This is Steve Driehaus, who will unseat Steve Chabot (finally!) on Nov. 4th.
Oh yeah!!!
Update: While waiting for the shuttle to take us to the rally, we started talking with a young man standing behind us. He had a t-shirt on that indicated he'd been a Senate page this past Spring. He talked about how knowledgeable and nice Joe Biden was and how mean McCain is. He told of how pages were all instructed to be quiet if McCain passed through the hallways. It was very interesting to hear a view from inside the Senate.
