Presidential V.P. pick Sarah Palin will make an appearance Saturday opening night for the Philadelphia Flyers !!!!

The Republican running mate of John McCain will drop the ceremonial first puck in Philly's home opener against the New York Rangers.

So let's welcome America's #1 Hockey Mom the only way Philly Fan should do it.

WITH A CASCADE OF DEAFENING BOOS !!!!!

Being born and raised in the "Illa-del", I know the city represents America like no other city.  Yeah in times of crisis and turmoil, we come together to help each other out.  But we also go home to our segregated lives.  When I was there, North Philly was home to Blacks & Puerto Ricans.  South Philly was built by the Italians and the Made-Men so ya better step lightly thru their "hood".  West Philly is the home of the "SpeedBoys" and NorthEast Philly & the burbs are home to the hard working White middle class.  Truly dedicated and they love their city like no other.

But when we cheer our Home teams we come together.  When we are called
to serve, we come together.  When we are challenged as a city, we come together.
And when we are about to get used by the "Lipstick Chick",
we need to come together.

See, Philly is about to get used & put away wet by the Republicans by allowing Palin to walk thru the "Lion's Den" and they think she will be cheered & loved.  They will say, "SEE, IF THE TOUGHEST CITY IN THE WORLD LOVES HER, YOU SHOULD TOO !!!"

I say it is an insult to everyone of my Brothers-in-Arms !

The dropping of the puck should be reserved for Local Hometown Heroes, former Flyer Players, the Firemen & Cops who put M.O.V.E. outta my neighborhood (Thanks Bruthas).  Or even real American Heroes like a retired soldiers.

But the Broad Street Bullies don't just reside on the ice.  We sit in those stands and we live in those neighborhoods.  And we welcome all phonies to our city the same way.

Whether thru folk lore like Santa Claus getting a battery upside the head, or Michael Irvin taking a chauffered ride off the carpet on a stretcher at the Vet.

We laughed when the fictional "Mr T." punk'd "Rocky" on the steps of the Art Museum in front of his wife, and I was there witnessing the greatest fan brawls of all time during a USFL Philadelphia Stars football game(damn I still remember that guy getting his face rearranged).

Sarah "Barracuda" Palin, otherwise know as the "FEMALE SANCHO PANZA", (credit George Will), stepping on the ice in my CITY representing nothing Philly stands for is what I would call an outright BITCHSLAP to BEN FRANKLIN.

P-H-I-L-L-Y,  HARDWORK, HARD HATS, & Hard Times, which she represents none of the above.  Her pick by McCain is the ULTIMATE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION pick !!!!

For this attempted insult, I wanna see YouTube Videos showing her run off the ice with the boos so loud I can feel the vibrations in Florida.  I wanna hear that the noise meature actually broke !!!   I wanna read that the boos were so loud her library glasses broke.

Maybe chant OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA !!!!!

So don't let me down Philly!   I am counting on you.  You have a reputation to up hold.

DON'T LET ME DOWN !!!!!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

that would be tough to do.  The Flyers don't play in a stadium they play in an arena.  And you probably won't see brawls over Palin regardless of how many boo.  But I can't guarantee those 2 obnoxious drunk guys in the Rangers jersey will leave untouched.

Obama will also be in Philly on Saturday.  He'll appear in rallies in 4 different neighborhoods.  I can't wait to see him.

Cross-checking is legal in Philly, isn't it?  Just asking.

When employees and stock-holders aren't different people, I'll find something else to do.

is abuzz with letters and calls from vehement Flyers fans and Philadelphians who resent having their team's home opener hijacked by a political opportunist. People are speculating about the Flyers' ownership and its Republican associations.

They have to know she'll be booed. But that's the point, I think. McCain and Palin want to divide the country. They want the booers and the cheerers to fight each other, and when the boos win, they'll play the video in rural areas and point to how the "urban elites hate regular people."

Just more division from the republican party. It's all they have.

Mr. Snider is a devotee of Ayn Rand.  He's always supported far-right causes.  He's just never used the Flyers to do it.  Frankly I'm surprised that Comcast is letting him do it, but Mr. Snider usually gets what he wants.

I don't want to see Sarah Palin there.  I wouldn't want to see Obama there either.  I go to hockey games to watch hockey.  It's my refuge.  Mr. Snider's actions are really discouraging.

events.  I had a chance to boo George the 1st at a NASCAR race in Daytona in 1992, but declined.  I wanted to show respect for the office.  I was surprised at how many people did boo him--most of the crowd.
I was also embarrassed when George the 2nd was booed at the baseball Nationals opener this year.  Again, not the time and place to show your anger.
BUT, this is different.  Sarah Palin hasn't earned anything.  She is a shrill, ignorant, hate-mongering phony.  She has no right to drop a first puck anywhere outside of Alaska.  I hope she is booed roundly.
BTW Go Flyers--I was a big fan in the late 90's (Lindros, LeClair et al) but lost interest when it became clear that Bobby Clark would not rest until he had destroyed the franchise.

them that this is a really bad idea guaranteed to alienate 80% of their fans. The teams are in cities, cities are mostly Democrats and lots of NHL fans in Canada where McCain-Palin would not get 15% of the vote were they running here.

We have only just begun and none too soon.
