I'm curious to find out what people think they'll see in an Obama Cabinet. Are we talking mostly academics? Left of center, right of center? What do you think Obama will do to bring the nation together that is likely to be bitterly divided over a close (or even worse for the radical wingnuts, a landslide) election and angry over the debacle that is the mortgage/banking meltdown. It's not going to be a picnic with the troubles facing him and who he chooses to help him will indicate a great deal about how he'll go about "mending the fences" left to him by Bush.
During the debate Warren Buffet's name came up as a possible Sec. of Treasury but I find this unlikely due to the fact that he would have to divest so much to participate in the Government. How about keeping Henry Paulson? Harvard president Larry Summers?
Secretary of Defense? Chuck Hagel, after all his wife did come out in support of Obama? It also has the added benefit of taking down one more Senate seat on the way to a 60 seat majority. Wesley Clark?
How about Secretary of State? Bill Richardson?
Schwarzenegger, Sec. of Interior or maybe EPA Administrator?
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger: "What (he’s) doing on climate change in California is very important and significant. There are things I don't agree with him on, but he's taken leadership on a very difficult issue and we haven't seen that kind of leadership in Washington," Obama said of the California governor.
Labor? Dick Gephardt?
Commerce? I think that Spitzer would make an excellent choice but he his politically toxic. Too bad. He made to many high level enemies looking out for us.
Energy? Sarah Palin? (/snark)
Thoughts?
