That's two for the day, as it happens. I got to humming this on the walk to the subway last week, and put together a draft that day. Back at work today, I finished it (more or less -- no song is truly ever finished; some just escape).
Look below the fold for the lyrics. I don't have a video camera to post it online, alas, but the tune is, I think, related to both "Jesus Saves," and "Be Prepared" (the latter by Tom Lehrer. I think it's close to "Jesus Saves," but I haven't heard that scurrilous ditty for years, so my aural memory is fuzzy.
Anyway, here it is:
John McCain
[to the tune of "Jesus Saves"]
John McCain, out on the campaign trail,
John McCain, looks like you’re bound to fail,
John McCain, with Sarah Palin at your side,
Getting nasty and so snide, John McCain.
John McCain, telling tales that don’t stand up,
John McCain, I just wish you would grow up.
You’ve got a million stories, and we can’t believe a one,
I think your race is run, John McCain.
John McCain, pulling ‘facts’ out of your ass,
John McCain with your P.O.W. pass,
You must take us for such fools when you lay out all that guff,
I think we’ve heard enough of John McCain.
John McCain, running for the highest job,
With the help of the rabid, right-wing mob.
Where once you stood in honor, now you stand knee-deep in mud,
Your tactic is a dud, John McCain.
John McCain, how are you going to fix
The results of your party’s bag of tricks?
The economy is broken, and the banks are all a-failin’
[Spoken] And you give us Sarah Palin? – John McCain.
